The extent of the odontoblast process in rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) as observed by scanning electron microscopy.

چکیده
Monkeys were perfused with Karnovsky phosphate-buffered formalin-glutaraldehyde (PBFGTA). Molars were removed and postfixed in PBF-GTA, demineralized in EDTA, freeze-fractured, and critical-point dried. Odontoblast processes were observed in tubules of the predentine, the pulpal inner third of dentine and in the peripheral dentine, but not in the middle third. Peripheral processes showed close adaptation to dentinal tubules with branches penetrating into canaliculi close to the dentin-name1 junction.

The Expression implication of GDNF in ventral horn and associated remote cortex in rhesus monkeys with hemisected spinal cord injury
Objective(s): Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) can effectively promote axonal regeneration, limit axonal retraction, and produce a statistically significant improvement in motor recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI). However, the role in primate animals with SCI is not fully cognized. Materials and Methods:18 healthy juvenile rhesuses were divided randomly into six groups, obs...
متن کاملDiagnosis and surgical management of an intraocular foreign body secondary to ballistic wound in a Rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta)
Background: Intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) such as air gun pellet is a rare finding in wild animals like Rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta). The purpose of the present scientific report is to describe the surgical retrieval of IOFB secondary to ballistic wound in a wild Rhesus macaque. Case description: A juvenile female wild Rhesus macaque was brought with the history of swollen and inflamed ...
متن کاملThe effect of 12 Hz Extremely Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Fields on Visual Memory of Male Macaque Monkeys
Introduction: Today, humans leave in a world surrounded by electromagnetic fields. Numerous studies have been carried out to discover the biological, physiological, and behavioral effects of electromagnetic fields on humans and animals. Given the biological similarities between monkeys and humans, the goal of the present research was to examine Visual Memory (VM), hormonal, genomic, and anatomi...
متن کاملLong-term feeding of sodium saccharin to nonhuman primates: implications for urinary tract cancer.
BACKGROUND It was observed in the early 1970s that saccharin produced bladder cancer in rats. However, it has been unclear whether sodium saccharin when consumed by humans poses a substantial carcinogenic hazard. Numerous epidemiologic studies have not shown any evidence of increased urothelial proliferation associated with ingestion of sodium saccharin. PURPOSE Our purpose was to determine t...
متن کاملMechanisms of inferential order judgments in humans (Homo sapiens) and rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta).
If A > B, and B > C, it follows logically that A > C. The process of reaching that conclusion is called transitive inference (TI). Several mechanisms have been offered to explain transitive performance. Scanning models claim that the list is scanned from the ends of the list inward until a match is found. Positional discrimination models claim that positional uncertainty accounts for accuracy a...
